I’m celebrating my first visit to Crowbar by seeing DICE perform at their Australian Chasing Hearts tour. Next month, the band is heading to the Northern hemisphere to begin a run of UK and USA shows. The band’s last Aussie show was a great send-off from local fans and absolute treat from DICE to us, especially with a premium line-up of support acts!
This is what happened at DICE’s Chasing Hearts show at Crowbar on May 3rd, 2025.
DIZZY DAYS

Our first act of the evening was Dizzy Days, a four-piece who are reinventing disco for modern listeners. Their music is groovy, funky fun, peppered with a few soft, romantic pieces in the set. With dreamy pop vocals from Aisling, instrumentalists Bridgette (bass), EJ (guitar), and Mikaela (drums) can focus on crafting a unique, memorable live music experience. The band’s enjoyment on stage is infectious, making them a fantastic choice for a support artist – this isn’t the first time DICE has had them on the line-up! However, Dizzy Days is so charismatic that once you see them live you’re sure to be a loyal fan forever!
Fave song: Take My Heart
DEAR SUNDAY

WA duo, Dear Sunday were next to take to the stage tonight. Best friends, Ben and Mason, curated a line-up that catered to all moods – from the introspective to the rambunctious, these genre-experimentalists were a massive hit with the crowd. As well as amazing music, the band had hilarious chemistry and a really thoughtful stage presence, using ‘CHEER’ and ‘BOO’ signs to humour and motivate the audience’s energy, as well as lovingly admonishing each other and ensuring the crowd was happy and healthy on their diet of gummy worms. In addition to great music, the band is great fun too! Their more sincere tracks are genuinely beautiful, but there’s also a lot of catchy indie rock that easily hook the crowd and get the floor moving. I hope they get back to the East Coast soon!
Fave song: Fancy
DICE

Seems like the band finished last year on a high note and are ready to do it all again! This is our second DICE concert review on The LayMusic and it seems that each show gets better and better. The band was incredible and the intimacy of Crowbar made the show really special as fans were able to get right up to the stage and really soak in the music and vibrant lights which flooded the room. The energy in the room was electric as Ben, Tom, Regan and Sam took to the stage with opening song This Is Not A Love Song, one of their exciting and moody hits that gives the band a distinct flavour to their indie-rock.
The band got through most of their hits, but not all (we have to stop leaving Eyes Ahead off the set list, please). Tickets maintained the band’s indie edge and affective melodrama, while Cherry put Ben front and centre for a sentimental moment. We were also treated to upbeat tracks Sunshine, and with a roll of the dice, Wonderland as a bonus track for the Brisbane show! The band’s Like A Version of I Will Survive has replaced Feeling Good as their cover of the set, which is bittersweet depending on whether you got to hear the latter last year (and know how hard it goes live) or if you’re a massive fan of the former (also fantastic!).
I feel like I’ve said this in my last four reviews, but I’m being serious when I say the show seemed to pass sooooooo quickly. It’s a testament to how engaging these bands are that we lose all track of time and are left feeling like we could dance for another hour by the time the encore rolls around. All too quickly we were listening to the tour’s namesake song, Chasing Hearts, and chanting “One more song!” Our lucky last two songs would have been a bittersweet ending to an incredible show, but in a celebratory moment we saw the return of Dizzy Days and Dear Sunday for the grand finale in Stop Sign. Giant, plastic dice were thrown around the pit as the bands made the concert into a party for its final moments, with a spectrum of lights and the glorious sounds of the sing-along!
Fave song: Cherry (We Don’t Have To Be Alone)

Sounds Good?
If you happen to be travelling to the UK or the USA in the next few months, you might get another chance to see the band! But for those of us staying home, we might be able to fill the void with some of these bands instead:
The Velvet Club – It’s a good sign if a band has toured with DICE before. The Velvet Club is another exciting indie-rock act with dreamy vocals and an exciting on-stage presence.
Hockey Dad – Just like DICE, Hockey Dad also have clever lyricism, beautiful vocals, and a great range of songs in their catalogue that emphasise melodramatic rock sounds or lighter, freer feelings.
Teenage Dads – Teenage Dads has a very fun on-stage presence, as well as songs that can make you feel like you’re flying through space or giddy in love.
Shout Out!
Thanks to the very sweet Tiarna and Caitlin for their company during the show!
